Bollywood graces ‘Drona’ premiere

The premiere of Goldie Behl’s most awaited fantasy flick ‘Drona’ at Imax Adlabs was a grand affair. The who’s who of Bollywood made their presence felt at the event. Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan, Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Ashutosh Gowariker, Yash and Pamela Chopra, Amar Singh, Farah Khan and Shirish Kunder, Harman and Harry Baweja, Preity Zinta, Shrishti Arya, Goldie and Sonali Bendre Behl, Sushmita Sen, Kay Kay Menon, Shahid Kapoor, Anil and Tina Ambani, Farhan Akhtar, Arjun Rampal all shone at the screening.

Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan accompanied by his wife Gauri came in and sat through the entire show. They wished Abhishek all the success for his new flick. Gauri even hugged Abhishek. Shahrukh said, “I am excited to see Abhishek in the film. I think he has put in great efforts for the film and I wish him all success.”

Abhishek close pal Sikandar Kher came with mother Kirron Kher while Anil Kapoor with daughter Sonam Kapoor. It was truly a night of glitz and glamour.

Exclusive range of ‘Drona’ merchandise launched

An exclusive range of ‘Drona’ merchandise was launched at a glittering event held at the Big Bazaar in Phoenix Mills.

The film starring Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra in lead roles has launched some interesting memorabilia such as comic books, mugs, t-shirts, swords, coloring books, magic box kit etc.

The merchandise priced nominally is available at almost all the Big Bazaar outlets and is mainly targeted towards kids.

Abhishek promotes ‘Drona’ on Colors’ ‘Balika Vadhu’

As part of a promotional campaign for Goldie Behl’s fantasy flick ‘Drona’, its lead actor Abhishek Bachchan will appear on the Colors channel on its popular soap, ‘Balika Vadhu’. He would be seen interacting with the prime characters Anandi, Shugna and Jagdish in the episode, that would be aired on October 2. During the shoot the ‘Drona’ star was seen having a whale of a time with the kiddie stars of the show.

Eros Entertainment, Baskin Robbins join hands to promote ‘Drona’

Eros Entertainment, producer of Goldie Behl’s ‘Drona’ joined hands with Baskin Robbins at an event held at Janak, the Bachchan’s office in Juhu. Baskin Robbins created a special Drona Flavour – a taste of adventure and excitement with loads of milk chocolate chips and cocoa nibs in a delicately flavored coffee ice cream, as part of its commitment to continuously offer new exciting flavors to its consumers.

At the occasion Baskin Robbins also announced a special offer for its consumers, whereby any customer buying the Drona Flavor will get a chance to meet the star of the movie, Abhishek Bachchan. Besides, there are also loads of movie merchandise and goodies on offer.

‘Drona’ adapted from Sagar Manthan

Goldie Behl’s ‘Drona’ touted as the costliest fantasy film in the history of Indian cinema is adapted from a story that happened centuries after the Sagar Manthan or the churning of the ocean of milk. According to Hindu mythology, while the churning was going on many wonderful things called as the 14 ratnas (treasures) came out of the ocean.

When the Gods saw the ratnas, they decided to hide them in different parts of the universe. One of them, amrit (nectar), that makes a man immortal, was hidden on the earth. A Maharishi was given the responsibility of taking care of this amrit. But soon, demons started attacking the Maharishi.

In order to protect himself, the Maharishi fled to Maharaja Virbhadra Singh, who promised him safety. The Maharashi told him that since he was protecting the amrit in a dron (a special vessel); he will be called Drona henceforth. All his descendants, who will take care of the amrit in future, will also be called by the same name.

That's how Abhishek gets the name Drona in the film, as his forefathers were Dronas.

Veer Arya plays young Abhishek in ‘Drona’

Not many know that the producer of Goldie Behl’s much-awaited animated flick ‘Drona’, Shrishti Arya’s son, Veer Arya is making his debut with the film as a child artiste. At the recent music release of ‘Drona’ Jaya Bachchan announced that Behl siblings – Goldie and Shrishti – have grown up with her children and she treats them like her own. But it has been a closely guarded secret till now that she’s playing mom to Veer in the film. The six–year old is playing the role of a young Abhishek in this action adventure.

Goldie screen-tested several child actors but wasn’t happy with anyone, that’s when he decided to turn to his own family for help. He got Shrishti’s son to screen test and then selected him for the part.

Abhishek, Priyanka Unveil 'Drona' Music

The music of Goldie Behl’s much-awaited fantasy adventure ‘Drona’ was launched at a glittering event at Hotel Leela in Mumbai. The album was unveiled by the film’s lead actors -- Abhishek Bachchan and Priyanka Chopra. Speaking on the occasion Abhishek said, “’Drona’ is a dream come true for Goldie and me. As kids we were sitting in a corner sulking that our fathers have thrown us off the sets and that was when we decided to make a film when we grow up. We had said, we will have sword fighting in it and then we will get to throw people off the sets.”

It was not just a big moment for Abhishek but also an emotional one for mother Jaya Bachchan. She got so emotional that she had tears in her eyes. “If I get tears in my eyes, please excuse me. These are tears of happiness,” she said. While Priyanka couldn’t stop raving about her look in the film, “Goldie told me, “I am going to make you look the hottest ever”, when he signed me as Drona’s bodyguard.”

The costumes and art including the three titanium swords used in the film were displayed for all to see.

‘Drona’ – A modern day fantasy film

Goldie Behl’s much-awaited animated flick ‘Drona’ is all set for release next month. The filmmaker who is almost making a comeback after seven years with this film, his last being ‘Bas Itna Sa Khwaab Hai’ (2001) is going through mixed emotions. As per reports he was quoted as saying, that he was completely disillusioned with his failure. And had then decided to dabble in the small screen and establish his company. But with the passage of time, he realized that one should never take failure to heart or success to head.

Goldie then penned a couple of scripts in the intervening period and ‘Drona’ was born after several brainstorming sessions.

The film according to the maker is a modern-day fantasy adventure and not based on any super-hero. The concept is original but presented in a contemporary format.

Priyanka sports a new look in ‘Drona’

Apart from the rave reviews received after the first promos of Goldie Behl’s ‘Drona’, India’s first mega-budget fantasy-action flick went on air; it is Priyanka Chopra, the film’s lead actress who is being much talked about. Her different look in the film has caught every cine-goer’s attention. Her outfit designed by Anaita Shroff and make-up by Mickey Contractor, Piggy Chops, as fondly called by co-star Abhishek Bachchan, joins ranks with Bollywood action star with Akshay Kumar in making the turban look fashionable.

As a warrior in the film, she was required to wear a turban but didn’t want a complete Indian look so she has used leather texture. The outfit is made of chiffon and there is a waist-coat too.

The red-haired beauty of the recently released ‘Love Story 2050’ had to do action scenes and therefore studied the Sikh form of martial arts Gatka for the role. She fights with two daggers in the film. However, the audience’ reaction to her fight sequence atop of running train moving at 70 kmph and doing somersaults from one compartment to another is what the leggy actress is desperately waiting for.

‘Drona’ is slated for release on October 2.

Priyanka Peeved

The first promo of Goldie Behl’s much awaited flick ‘Drona’ is out. Although the response to the trailers has left the filmmaker happy, it is learnt, Priyanka Chopra, the film’s leading lady is extremely annoyed. She doesn’t feature anywhere in them. The entire promo, which lasts for a minute, does not have a single hint of her presence in the film. It’s Abhishek Bachchan, who plays the author-backed role, all over the place.
